Interview with SEO Expert Daryl Clark of Internet Search Marketing continued.

Here are my responses to more questions in my recent interview with DistinctSEO. Q: What’s more important to you? On page optimization or off-page optimization.Ans: Off page optimization for sure. If you ever have the opportunity to run a website that gets thousands of visitors from Google a month, it is truly a mind boggling experience. With more people using Google every month the referrals from Google grow at dramatic rates every year. If you can dominate the top three positions for your desired search terms, especially if you can manage to capture a few #1 rankings you will excel. Q:...

How long does it take to for a new website to get good rankings at Google, Yahoo and MSN?

Here is a great article by Eric Enge that takes a look at latency in search engine rankings. Back in March, he published a case study on the SEW blog titled How Long Does it Take a New Site to Rank in the Search Engines? The study showed the pace at which a new site about a popular American folk song, Follow the Drinking Gourd, climbed the rankings in Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Today, Eric is going to update the results since the initial post, and also make some observations about how each search engine responded to removed pages. What made the study interesting is that the site quickly established...

I’ll be taking the Memorial Day weekend here in the United States off but I wanted to leave you with this great post from Search Engine Watch. This article is by By Chris Boggs. Study finds 25 countries censor websites by the Associated Press.

At least 25 countries around the world block websites for political, social or other reasons as governments seek to assert authority over a network meant to be borderless, said a U.S.-British-Canadian study out Friday. The actual number may be higher but the OpenNet Initiative had the time and capabilities to study only 40 countries and the Palestinian territories. Even so, researchers said they found more censorship than they had initially expected, a sign the Internet has matured to the point governments are taking notice. “This is very much the revenge of geography,” said Rafal Rohozinski,...

Determining the quality and quantity for improving SERPs (search engine ranking positions).

I thought would try to offer some perspective on links and their impact on Google rankings today. Google still values links and moves websites up in their organic rankings because of links. Inbound links to your website will always vary in quantity and quality. These variations will also determine whether your SERPs (search engine ranking positions) improve or decline. Here is my stab at rating links and their power to improve your search engine rankings. This is only based on experience and observation; there is no scientific evidence to support the hierarchy I have created. This assumes the link...

Link Safari: Gear Up for a Hunting Expedition.

Today’s great post comes from Search Engine Watch and is written by Justilien Gaspard. “Often link building is referred to as fishing. In some respects that is correct. You need to find the places the fish are gathered, try to get their attention with the bait and hope they bite. Another approach is to hunt for those high-value links. Why settle for small links in a stream, when you can hunt for trusted links with more substance, power and trust. Thereby maximizing your return for time invested. From personal experience, I can attest a handful of highly-trusted links will do more for...
