Results from the most extensive U.S. study on teens and their use of digital media show that America’s youth are developing important social and technical skills online – often in ways adults do not understand or value.“It might surprise parents to learn that it is not a waste of time for their teens to hang out online,” said Mizuko Ito, University of California, Irvine researcher and the report’s lead author. “There are myths about kids spending time online – that it is dangerous or making them lazy. But we found that spending time online is essential for young people to pick up...

This post comes from Search Engine Land.
“YouTube is formally announcing “sponsored videos.” This is an evolution and expansion of what was has been informally running under the heading “promoted videos.” The effort seeks to marry Google AdWords-like bidding and targeting with YouTube video content. Accordingly, it’s an auction marketplace but somewhat simplified vs. AdWords. And while there apparently will be a view from AdWords of sponsored videos the two marketplaces are largely separate — for now.
It’s a smart move for Google/YouTube and will enable content creators, publishers,...

I’ve been maintaining this blog for a couple of years now and instead of just providing insights on the search engine optimization and Internet marketing worlds, I want to provide your with insights about who I am and share things beyond those topics that others will (hopefully) find of interest....

This post comes from Tech Crunch.
The number of people who visit Facebook has been leveling off over the past few months in the U.S., and even dipped by about 800,000 individuals in January. According to the latest stats from comScore, Facebook attracted 33.9 million unique visitors in January, 2008, down 2 percent from 34.7 million in December, 2007. Maybe all that friend spam has something to do with the decline. Will the Facebook fatigue get worse, or is this just a temporary dip?
Worldwide, Facebook is still doing fine. It grew 3 percent in January over December, attracting 100.7 million unique...

This article is from the L.A. Times. Mark Pincus may hold a winning hand with his latest Internet venture. More than 130,000 Facebook users a day play an online version of Texas Hold ‘Em that the San Francisco entrepreneur created at his kitchen table while his American bulldog, Zinga, slept at his feet.
This is not the poker of smoky backrooms or illicit gambling sites but a free, friendly game at one of the Internet’s hottest hangouts, Facebook. Chips serve as social currency: The more you win, the bigger the swagger. Run low and you can earn more by inviting chums to join....

Today’s article comes from SEOChat. Content management systems help businesses, individuals and pretty much everybody else get fresh, easily updated content online in a user-friendly way. Hundreds of thousands of blogs based on content management systems go live every day. Even so, it’s pretty rare to see a really professional looking blog, despite the fact that it isn’t that hard to create one. In this article we will look at how to use and manage your blog effectively, and hopefully not make the errors dozens of bloggers make.
Where Do You Start?
This is trickier than it seems....

This interesting posts comes from SEOChat. With news coming hard and fast about the popularity of social networks lately, it’s not surprising that Google and Yahoo want a piece of the pie. Social Bookmarking and Social Networking are the hottest Internet marketing topics today. This morning I found this great article by Jermiah Owyang about Facebook. “If you’re responsible for the direction of your online strategies for your company or organization, you’ve probably been asked by your colleagues to take a look at a social network. If you’re new to the Facebook phenomenon, this will serve as a guide for you to get started, link to resources to help, and provide an overview as a web decision maker.
